Our Story

Where Outback Grit Meets Creative Vision

Outback Opal Putters is the passion project of Lightning Ridge opal miner Pete Cooke. After years underground chasing black opals, Pete turned his creative energy above ground — crafting an 18-hole miniature golf course unlike anything you've ever seen.

The course blends steampunk aesthetics with outback Australian soul. Industrial sculptures, salvaged mining machinery, and Pete's own handcrafted artwork transform every hole into a story. It's not just mini golf — it's a gallery, a sculpture park, and a family adventure all in one.

  • Handcrafted Artistry

Every hole is a unique sculpture built from recycled mining equipment and outback ingenuity.

  • Born from the Ridge

Created by opal miner Pete Cooke, the course blends Lightning Ridge heritage with creative flair.

  • Fun for Everyone

Drove up from Dubbo specifically to visit and it was 100% worth the trip. Totally unique experience — nowhere else like it in NSW. Pete has created something truly special.

The most interesting mini golf course I've ever played. Every hole has its own theme and story. The steampunk sculptures are mind-blowing. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Lightning Ridge.
